RiskQP was built on a single, frustrating observation: the most important conversation in personal insurance — how much cover does someone actually need? — was almost always being had without any real numbers.
Advisers were guessing. Clients were guessing. And the gap between what people had and what they needed was growing — not because advisers didn't care, but because nobody had built a tool to make the numbers clear before the advice conversation even started.
So we built one. And then we built a platform around it.
The problem wasn't new. But nobody had solved it properly. We decided to change that — starting in New Zealand and building for the world.
New Zealand has one of the highest rates of underinsurance in the developed world. Not because people don't want protection — but because the conversation about how much protection they actually need has never had a rigorous, accessible starting point.
Walk into a first meeting with any insurance adviser in NZ and ask: "How much life insurance do I need?" The honest answer, in most cases, involves a lot of estimation, some rule-of-thumb calculations, and a healthy dose of professional instinct. That's not a criticism of advisers — it's a criticism of the tools available to them.
"The most powerful question in insurance advice — how exposed are you, really? — had no rigorous answer before the meeting. We built the tool that changes that."
— RiskQP Founding TeamThe breakthrough was conceptual before it was technical. We realised that virtually all personal insurance needs map to one of three risk categories — Death, Disability, and Disease. Not loosely. Precisely. Every cover type in personal insurance sits inside one of those three dimensions.
Once that framework was clear, the rest followed. Build a guided assessment that asks the right questions across all three dimensions. Calculate exposure in dollars, not percentages. Produce a professional report that an adviser can use to anchor every conversation. Co-brand it so the adviser's practice stays front and centre alongside the 3D Lab™ certification. And build it to work worldwide, not just in one market.
That became 3D Lab™ — the flagship product of the Risk Quantification Platform.
3D Lab™ solves the quantification problem. But we quickly realised that the quantification tool was only part of what advisers needed. The other part was knowledge — the ability to interpret risk exposure, explain it compellingly, and build advice that was defensible, suitable, and genuinely in the client's best interest.
That's where the RiskQP Academy came in — and where our partnership with Steve Wright became the natural next step. The platform now has three pillars: the software that quantifies risk, the education that builds the knowledge to act on it, and the tools that complete the advice workflow.
We're launching in New Zealand — the market we know best. The platform is calibrated specifically for the NZ insurance landscape, regulatory environment, and adviser community.
That's not a product pitch. It's a principle. Risk quantification is the foundation of honest, high-quality advice — and right now, most of the world doesn't have access to it. We're changing that.
We believe every insurance conversation should start with a number, not an estimate. Our platform produces dollar figures, not generalisations — giving advisers and clients a shared, objective starting point.
3D Lab™ is an educational tool. It doesn't recommend products. It doesn't push advisers. It gives people a clear picture of their exposure — and then connects them with an expert who can help. In that order. Always.
Underinsurance isn't a New Zealand problem. It's a global one. We're building RiskQP to work across markets — calibrated for each country's insurance products, regulatory framework, and adviser community.
A founding team that spans mortgage and insurance advice, product development, and professional education — with decades of real industry experience between them. We're not building for the insurance industry from the outside. We're part of it.

DC is a New Zealand-based mortgage adviser and fintech builder with a track record of turning complex financial problems into elegant digital tools. As the founder of Mortgage Hotline, he spent years watching clients struggle to articulate their financial risk exposure — and decided to build the tool that fixes it.
RiskQP is the culmination of that work: a platform that brings quantification, education, and best-in-class tools together into one ecosystem for advisers worldwide. DC leads product development, strategy, and the global expansion roadmap.

Steve Wright brings over 20 years of life and health insurance expertise to the RiskQP platform — including senior leadership roles at Partners Life and a background that spans Economics, Law, Tax, and Financial Planning.
Steve partners with RiskQP as an independent contractor leading the Academy — because he believes risk quantification is the foundation of great advice, and the 3D Lab™ framework mirrors exactly the methodology he has been teaching advisers for years. The Academy is his platform to scale that philosophy further and faster than ever.
These aren't aspirational statements. They're the specific commitments that shaped every decision we made in building this platform.
3D Lab™ is an educational tool. It calculates, it informs, it illuminates — but it never recommends a product, a provider, or a premium. That distinction isn't just legal cover. It's a genuine belief that clients make better decisions when they understand their exposure first, not after they've been pitched to.
We are not a direct-to-consumer insurance platform. We are not trying to disintermediate advisers. Every design decision in our platform is built to make advisers more valuable to their clients — not to replace them. The co-branded model, the lead delivery, the professional report — all of it is designed to put the adviser at the centre of the relationship.
There is a difference between advice that passes a compliance audit and advice that is genuinely in a client's best interest. We care about the second thing. The RiskQP Academy exists specifically because process compliance and advice quality are not the same thing — and we want the advisers on our platform to know the difference.
We're launching in New Zealand because it's the market we understand most deeply. But the risk quantification framework — Death, Disability, Disease — is universal. The insurance solutions differ by country. The human need they address does not. We're building a global platform with genuine local calibration, not a generic tool with a flag slapped on it.
Every report 3D Lab™ generates includes clear, prominent disclaimers. Every calculation is itemised and explainable. We are not interested in building a black box that produces numbers nobody can interrogate. If a client asks how their exposure figure was calculated, the answer should be right there in the report — visible, auditable, and honest.
